There are two routes to the individual membership of the institute –

 

• By Prior Certification & Training – one has to complete CPA Certification & training to become eligible for membership of the ICPA. Applicant has to pass exams & complete training and after which one can get membership under associate category

• By Experience and other professional qualifications- under this route following types of professionals enjoy advance level of membership of ICPA.

     (Note Membership admission is  on provisional  basis and certificate will be issued only after passing exams) 

• CA /CMA Intermediate or Finalists whether or not completed their 3 year internship training 

• Bachelor of Commerce  Degree holder & 

  • who has done LLb (2/3yr) degree  (i.e. Professional lawyer practicing  in Taxation laws ) OR

  • who has enrolled as tax practitioner with the state or central govt.  OR

  • who further has done Masters in Accountancy/Taxation/Finance (M.com/MBA)  OR

  • with a diploma in Taxation OR Govt Diploma in cooperation and accountancy (GDCA exams)

  • who has done an Accounting & Taxation Course from a reputed Vocational Training Institute  OR

  • who has done Accounting Technicians Course

• Above persons may get advance level of membership if they have more than 5 yrs of experience.

• Honorary/Academic Membership is for mentoring our CPA members. They will guide our members in the profession. It is open for CA/CMA/MBA/Other Equivalent professionals /Academicians in practicing/teaching in the subjects falling under CPA knowledge area.

• Direct membership will be offered to those - (without any further examination)

  • Who have completed Master of Professional Accountancy  or have done CPA from ICFAI University 

  • Who is empanelled as Certified Auditor / Government/Special Auditor by Any of the State/ UT Department 

                                                                                                                                                                

• But for all of them following basic criteria must be satisfied

 

• He is a resident and holds normal citizenship of India by birth or otherwise is entitled to Indian nationality

• ​He is of 21 years of age at the time of application

• He is of sound mind

• He is of good moral character and has not been at any time convicted for offence involving moral turpitude

• He is not declared as insolvent
